Director, International Business Development

The International Director’s primary role is to ensure that all International regions are supported and represented at the Corporate Office. The International Department is the main conduit between the International Markets and the Corporate Office in areas related to Marketing, Forecasting/Planning, Product Development, Visual Merchandising, and Finance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operational Role:
1. Represent all 30+ International Markets as key liaison at the Corporate Office and work in partnership with all key department heads (Finance, Wholesale, Marketing, Creative Services, Art, HR, Digital Media, IT, Operations) for all operational marketing needs. Day–to-day management of new product operational support abroad.
2. Assist local General Managers in achieving sales targets.
3. Provide operational marketing support for all new product launches.
4. Develop international forecasts for new products
5. Facilitate new launch marketing activities with local teams.
6. Manage all distributor and Travel Retail account relationships including sales goals, budgeting, brand positioning, sales support, and marketing direction.
7. Lead and organize the annual International Conferences for General Managers and Marketing Managers to share best practices.
8. Design and manage the International website.
9. Ensure in-store branding consistency for all International Markets, including store design, visual merchandising, marketing, training, and sales model.
10. Lead back-office setup following new country openings (legal, IT, pricing agreements, communications).
11. Establish and implement short- and long-term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
12. Serve on planning and task force committees.
13. Coordinate and publish Global Retail Sales Reports for all International markets.
14. Work with regulatory team to secure timely registration of products for all markets. Communicate any quality issues to the QA and Product Development teams.
15. Ensure local markets have adequate inventory levels. Consult the markets with Demand Planner forecasting advice.
Financial Planning:
1. Develop 5 year plan for Travel Retail and Agent business.
2. Create annual Budget and revision analysis for all International Markets.
3. Manage monthly P&Ls for South Africa, Middle East, SE Asia, and Travel Retail.
Strategic Role:
1. Identify, research and analyze all market expansion opportunities. This includes all forms of expansion, including subsidiaries, joint ventures and distributors.
2. Analyze various factors within a given market to recommend local pricing.
3. Advise individual markets on various new business strategies.
Organizational Role:
1. Recruit, hire, train, develop and manage Associate Managers.
2. Partner with local General and Marketing Managers.
3. Manage all International Distributors and Travel Retail accounts.

Qualifications:
• Strong business acumen and analytical skills
• Understanding of a multi-cultural client base
• Cross Functional experience: Internal - marketing and finance; External – distributors and retailers
• Very organized, detail oriented
• Proven experience managing people
• Good interpersonal communication skills
• Positive attitude
• Forecasting experience
• Entrepreneurial, self-starter
• 6+ years of international marketing experience
• Foreign language, Mandarin/French is a plus
• Experience with retail or prestige cosmetics is a plus
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Desire to drive retail sales by assessing business opportunities, creating product ideas, developing marketing strategies, or any other means necessary
• Willingness to travel internationally often (25%+ of the time abroad)
